I’m not typically a “burgers and fries” kind of girl, but when Yeah! Burger kept popping up in my research for gluten-free places to dine in Atlanta, I was convinced to give the place a try after seeing lots of gluten-free options, including dedicated fryers and a DIY approach to building a custom burger. Plus, whenever you can get fresh sweet potato fries, you don’t miss that opportunity.
Yeah! Burger has a couple locations in Atlanta, and I visited the Virginia-Highland location located in a really cool neighborhood outside of the bustle of downtown.
Because of the rarity of my burger consumption, I was eager to see just how good Yeah! Burger could be after some pretty high standards set by other’s reviews.
While at first glance Yeah! Burger was a good gluten-free option, once I arrived I realized it was a gluten-free gold mine. All the burgers are gluten-free, including the vegan veggie burger. The buns are certified gluten-free and toasted in a dedicated toaster. The potato fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings (yes, gluten-free onion rings!) are fried in a dedicated fryer. Don’t want a bun? You can get your burger in a lettuce wrap.
Yes, Yeah! Burger thought of everything.
When ordering, make sure you tell the staff member you have a gluten “allergy,” they will key in the celiac protocol to make sure each of these safety measures are properly observed by the kitchen. It’s easy to get excited by so much gluten-free goodness, but it’s a reminder to always communicate with the kitchen to ensure safety.
I decided to order the turkey burger on a gluten-free bun with lettuce, onion, tomato, and jalapeƱos with stone ground mustard. To complete the meal I got an order of sweet potato fries and GT’s Synergy Triology Kombucha.
The burger was perfectly chargrilled, thick and juicy and seasoned to perfection. The bun was not Udi’s (I am not a fan of those) but I couldn’t quite identify the brand. Either way it held the massive burger and toppings together with ease, not crumbling or dissolving from the first bite to the last. The toppings were flavorful and the the whole combination was a huge home run. I especially appreciated the wrapping of the burger to make for mess-fee consumption of the massive burger.
The waffle fries were fried to the perfection point where they were a little chewy, a little crispy and salted to perfection. They weren’t greasy, and weren’t underdone, in one word: heavenly. The portioning was enough for two or three people to split easily, and the fries were long cut with the skin still on, which makes for easy dipping should you so choose to indulge. I preferred my as-is to let the sweet potato flavor shine unmasked.
Yeah! Burger was an unexpectedly amazing find, and I couldn’t believe how celiac-knowledgable they were and how many options were open for me. While enjoying the incredible food I ordered, I was already dreaming of a future visit that would allow me to try other burger combinations and the gluten-free onion rings.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that is this accommodating and makes eating out safely feel totally normal. No fear, just good food. I eagerly await my next visit.
